Worried about the economy and asking for that promotion or raise?

Depending on your company's recent performance and financial position in this economic climate, it might not be the BEST time to ask for that promotion or raise. But that doesn't mean you should take your foot of the gas in your career.

This just might be the best time to position yourself for a career boost as soon as the tides change. We recommend spending time now to uncover the strategies that are most likely to work for you, and take consistent action so that you're ready for a bump.

Your best place to start is to take our Path To Promotion Assessment.

This will help you get crystal clear on where you're strong and well-positioned, and what you might be missing that could hold you back from moving your career forward.

Some of the areas that you should be focusing are:

Do you have a clearly articulated vision for your leadership?

  • Have you written out your vision for the kind of leader you want to be and how far up the ladder you aspire to climb? Do you know exactly how to meet the advancement requirements at your current place of employment and in your industry in general?

Are you exhibiting Executive Presence?

  • Are you confident in your leadership ability? Does that shine through to others? Are you able to remain calm and grounded in times of crisis?

How are your communication skills?

  • Are you aware of your communication style and that of others? Do you know how to adapt to the style of the person you are speaking with in order to have the most rapport, understanding and positive results?

Do you have allies, sponsors and advocates?

  • Have you created relationships with influential people in your organization who can speak up on your behalf and recommend you for the promotion or raise? Does your management have a positive perception of the work you are doing?

Are you demonstrating to others that you are ready for a promotion?

  • Do you consistently look at things from a strategic angle, even more than others at your level? Are you clear about the contribution you make? Are you a master of delegation so that you are free to move up and hand the baton over when it's time?

If you’ve answered yes to many of these questions, you may be right on track for that promotion! But if you want to be sure, take this 8-minute assessment and find out what might still be holding you back and what to do about it.

If you've already taken the assessment, I recommend spending some time with your results and creating a plan to move forward. If you'd like to learn more about how we could help you do that, simply fill out this short intake form and we'll be in touch to schedule a call.
